Winter 2003

Two New Releases

2001 Dry Creek Cabernet Sauvignon

This Cabernet is produced from the grapes grown in red soils on the Eastern slope of Bradford Mountain, overlooking Dry Creek Valley. This wine consistently shows the characteristics of a “serious Cab.” The vines are 30 years old. The grapes produce a wine that is perfectly balanced with intense aromas and tastes of blueberry, boysenberry, cassis and plum with spicy, cedar and clove overtones. It is 95% Cabernet and 5% Merlot. The concentration and ample tannic structure should allow for 8-to-10 years of bottle aging. Enjoy with steak, game birds, prime rib and chocolate. Some details:

  • Harvested October 2001
  • 3.5 tons/acre
  • Aged 18 months in French oak barrels
  • 305 cases produced

This wine is just $29.00 per bottle (Cellar Club Members $23.20). You can order this wine online or call us at 707-431-8243 (Monday–Friday, 9 am–4 pm PST). We will sell out of this wine in a few months. Order now to ensure you will be able to enjoy this fine vintage.

2002 Russian River Chardonnay

With a sense of harmony, elegance and style, our 2002 Russian River Chardonnay displays notes of fresh pineapple, citrus and crisp green apple. Overtones of toast and spice are the results of fermentation in French oak barrels (25% new oak).

The “Sur Lies” aging (the wine is left in contact with the fine lees) and a partial malolactic fermentation provide fullness, liveliness and a long-lasting finish that retains the aromatic complexity of the nose and produces a round mouth feel. Appreciate this wine with salmon, oysters, vegetable risotto, crab, lobster and scallops or sip as a reward after a long day. Some details:

  • Harvested October 2002
  • 3.8 tons/acre
  • Aged 9 months in French oak barrels
  • 238 cases produced

Just $22.00 per bottle ($17.60 for Cellar Club Members). Order online now or call us at 707-431-8243 (Monday–Friday, 9 am–4 pm PST) for Spring and Summer enjoyment. Serve slightly chilled.

Russian River Wine Road Annual Barrel Tasting Weekend, Friday, March 5

Before you know it, March and Barrel Weekend will be here again. Join us the first weekend of March for this annual event of the Russian River Wine Road. Visit 80 wineries and taste wine from their 2003 barrels. Barrel Weekend is Friday, March 5th through Sunday, March 7th. We will be open 10 am-5 pm on all three days. Come sample our 2003 Petite Sirah, Syrah and Dry Creek Zinfandel from the barrel. Futures will be available for purchase of these wines. BBQ sausages will be served Saturday and Sunday. There is no charge for this event and no reservations are required. Bring your own glass or purchase a logo glass at any participating winery. Hope to see you there. Come early in the day to avoid the crowds.

Petite Sirah Alert

On March 5th we released our 2002 Estate Bottled Petite Sirah at Barrel Tasting Weekend. Our Petite is a perennial award winner having received several Best of Class Awards and a number of Gold Medals during the past 10 years. You can age this wine for 8– to–10 years. We suggest not drinking the wine until mid-2005. By then the tannins will soften and the fruit will shine. We sell out of this wine quickly, so please let us know if you are interested in purchasing the wine as soon as possible. Pre-order the wine by calling 707-431-8243 (Monday–Friday, 9 am–4 pm PST).

Cellar Club Members: Add bottles to your Spring shipment by sending us an e-mail.
