New Release—
2008 Russian River Estate Reserve Syrah!

The 2008 Estate Bottle Reserve Syrah, a Fall Cellar Club
selection, is produced from Syrah barrels that show the best aging
potential. This full-bodied, well structured wine reflects the
exceptional quality of the multi-clonal Syrah grapes grown on the
multi-age vines on the hillside at the winery estate.
The color is dark violet and the fruit characteristics include black
cherry, blackberry and boysenberry with a slight hint of pomegranates
and smoky accents. On the palate, the wine is rich and balanced with a
long gripping, jammy finish. Drinkable now with decanting, this wine
will nevertheless mature gracefully over the next 8-10 years as the
generous tannins soften.
Versatile with food, Syrah pairs well with grilled red meat dishes,
duck, Mediterranean-style food (olive oil, garlic, rosemary and thyme
are its friends) as well as spicy food
and strong cheeses. Drink the Zin now but hold the Petite until at least Thanksgiving or
age for up to 10 years.
- Harvested September 2008
- 2.2 tons / acre
- Aged in American and French oak for 11 months
- 191 cases produced
- $32/bottle (Cellar Club price $25.60)
Dessert Wines Available Again this Summer!
We have had many inquiries on when our 2008 Petite
Sirah Port will be available again. We sold out early this year.
We will have the Port again this Summer at our Petite Sirah
Stampede in August. The price will remain at $28 or if you are a
Cellar Club member $22.40.
Available late this Summer, the 2009 Late Harvest Viognier will
surely please your palette. To produce this wine the grapes need
to hang for 8 weeks longer than our regular Viognier to increase
the sugar and to produce a rich mouth feel. We are not able to
produce this wine every year, but 2009 was a good year and the
weather cooperated.
This elegant wine exhibits a complex nose of honeysuckle and wild
flowers with tastes of apricot, pear and peach fruit. Enjoy with
vanilla ice cream, fruit tarts, apple pie and any creamy dessert.
Serve slightly chilled to retain the fruit characteristics of the
wine.
The bottle price is $30, the Cellar Club Member price is $24 a
bottle.
New Wines Available at Christopher Creek
Kelli's Block #7 Dry Creek Cabernet Franc
Available October 2010, the 2008 Kelli’s Block #7 Cabernet Franc is
produced from grapes grown on 35 year old vines on one acre, in the
red soils on the Eastern slopes of Bradford Mountain overlooking Dry
Creek Valley.
The wine shows the characteristics of a traditional and rare Cab
Franc. The 2008 Cab Franc, a wonderfully balanced wine, demonstrates
intense, garnet color with aromas of cherry (like cherry pie),
cassis, vanilla, mild toasty oak and caramel with flavors include
black cherry, cola and caramel. Aged for 18 months in French Oak
barrels (45% new French Oak) to produce firm tannins and a long
juicy, toasty finish. The concentration and ample tannic structure
should allow for 8-to-10 years of bottle aging. This wine will
benefit from additional bottle aging and drinking should be deferred
until mid 2012, unless decanted 1/2-1 hour before serving
Red meat dishes and game birds are pairings of choice for the 2008 Cab
Franc. Thanksgiving Turkey might be a great pairing.
Our first vintage (2007) we produced 50 cases which sold out
quickly. Our 2008 vintage will be released October 2010, only 108
cases were produced and only 25 cases are available for purchase.
The price is $50 a bottle, $40 for Cellar Club members.
