New Release—2002 Russian River Zinfandel
The 2002 Russian River Zinfandel is the fall 2004
Cellar Club Selection (for
members choosing red wines only or all three wines). We made this
wine from grapes grown at two nearby vineyards, both of which added
to the complexity and taste of the wine.
70% of the grapes are from young, but “old clone”
Zinfandel vines and 30% are from a two acre plot of 80+ year-old,
dry-farmed Zinfandel vines, which have intermingled a few Alicante
Bouschet and Carignane vines. The younger vines bring a subtle berry
aroma and acidity, while the older vines add the structure,
concentration and intensity.
The wine
is somewhat spicier than our Dry Creek Zinfandel due to the cooler
Russian River climate. This complex “primitivo-styled” wine is
layered with ripe and jammy boysenberry, blackberry, prune and
currant fruits. We recommend that you cellar this wine for a year.
We expect this wine to age well over the next 4-to-6 years.

2002 Deux Barriques are Available for the Holidays
In 1998, we decided to make a very special wine in a limited quantity from our two favorite grapes:
Petite Sirah and Zinfandel. It is know as Deux Barriques (two barrels). The wine is a marriage of two barrels produced
from grapes grown at two vineyards in the Russian River Valley. In this case, it is our Block #1 Petite and an “old vine”
Zinfandel vineyard across the road. Both barrels of wine were selected for their intensity, structure, aging potential and
true fruit characteristics.
The Petite Sirah and the Zinfandel complement each other and produce a wine that is dark garnet
in color with blueberry fruit overtones and a layered ripe, jammy boysenberry-blackberry fruit with a full creamy mouth feel.
The Petite is aged in a French oak barrel for 18 months and the Zinfandel is aged in an American oak barrel for 18 months.
Deux Barriques is a delicious wine to serve with lamb, game birds and rare tuna.

Join us at our Second Annual Harvest Event—Fall for Zin. We will taste a vertical (2000, 2001, 2002)
of both our Russian River and Dry Creek Zinfandels paired with hearty fall fare. The Zins will be available for purchase at
special prices.
Ravenscroft Crystal will be on hand to demonstrate the effect a wine glass has on the aroma and taste of
Zinfandel. And, Ravenscroft Crystal glasses will be available for purchase at special prices. While you are here, taste our
2002 Petite Sirah Port and our 2003 Late Harvest Viognier. They will also be available for purchase. There is no better place
to spend a beautiful fall day but in the wine country. We hope to see you there. Bring your friends and family!

Older Vintage Week

Holiday time is fast approaching again and at Christopher Creek Winery we are ready to help you find those
special wines for a holiday dinner or gift. Once a year we bring back some of our older vintages to taste and buy, as well as
our Big Bottles (magnums) of Petite Sirah, Syrah and Cabernet. During Older Vintage Week we will also taste our 2002 Petite
Sirah Port and our 2000 Deux Barriques, which is a special blend of Petite Sirah
and Russian River Zinfandel.
For your shopping convenience, the Tasting Room will
be open daily, 11 am to 5 pm (closed Thanksgiving Day). The Library
wines and Big Bottles are available for purchase in limited
quantities, so order early. If you cannot visit us, orders can be
placed by phone, fax or e-mail. Please call us for a description of
